Education at Boulder Knoll is meant to foster and nurture connections between human systems, food systems and ecological systems.
In the spring, we kicked off our “Springing into Nature’ series with our ‘Exploring Ecosystems Around the Farm’ walk where 15 participants were led on a walk to discover the wild lands behind the farm. Over the summer, Boulder Knoll Farm also hosted workshops in organic gardening, soil ecology, an art-themed plants and patterns workshop, a wild edible plant walk, a greens cooking demo, girl scout and boy scout troop visits, a work-day for Jewish congregation Kol Ami, and more.
These visits out to the farm have helped foster a closer connection between community members, their local food system and the bioregion they are apart of. By tuning into the ebbs and flows of nature, and the bloom times, ripening times, mating months for animals, and other natural cycles, our education programs at Boulder Knoll attempt to give the visitor a personal and place-based feel.
We’ll be back in 2012 with more great educational opportunities. Please contact our educator if you would like to bring your group to Boulder Knoll Farm.
