We take garbage and make COMPOST — a valuable soil amendment!
And YOU can participate!
How it Works:
- Email info@friendsofboulderknoll.com to sign up to participate.
- You will receive a kitchen scraps bin.
- Weekly, or as suits your lifestyle, you will fill your kitchen bin (or other container of your choice) and bring to the composting site at 875 Boulder Road, Cheshire. Please cut up your waste as you add to your bin. This accelerates and improves decomposition – helping turn “waste” into valuable compost more efficiently.
- You download the free MakeSoil app to your phone, find “Community Composting at Boulder Knoll Farm”; and sign up as a “Soil Supporter”.
- Each time you bring kitchen scraps, you will log the approximate weight of your deposit into the app. Contents of a full CCBKF kitchen bin = approximately 5 lbs.
- Your input will determine the amount of compost you receive when it is ready to distribute.
